The article is devoted to the study of the potential of school geography in the formation of
students' ecological competence. The wide possibilities of geographical knowledge, skills, and methods
for the interpretation of natural phenomena and processes, which contribute to the formation of a responsible attitude towards the planet's environment, are analyzed.
